Maria Atencio
Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer
Maria Atencio joined Cibola General Hospital in September 1986, starting her career as a nurse’s aide on the medical-surgical floor. Over the years, she has amassed over 30 years of nursing experience, becoming a registered nurse and earning a Bachelor’s degree in the field.
Maria is a long-time member of our community and deeply committed to its well-being. In her current role, she oversees our clinical areas and teaches clinical certification courses throughout the year, ensuring that our staff maintains the highest standards of care.
“This is my home, so it’s important to me,” Maria says. “It’s our community. Our families are here. We’re taking care of our families.”
Jim Hermes
Chief Financial Officer
Jim Hermes is joining Cibola General Hospital (CGH) as our new Chief Financial Officer. Jim has an immense background of finance for over 30 years and is excited to join the Grants community.
Prior to his role with Cibola General Hospital, he served as the Executive Director for Strategic Healthcare Solutions in Houston, TX. He has been involved with the purchasing and selling of hospitals, medical joint ventures, and running the Finance Departments of small hospitals.
As a senior financial executive with hospital financial and operations experience, some of his achievements include business plans improvements for rural hospitals to increase revenue while creating workflow efficiencies, planned consumer pricing initiatives to make care affordable for the uninsured and high deductible insured, enhanced net revenue with clinical documentation improvements, and many more.
Join CGH in welcoming Mr. Hermes and his wife Anne to our community. His experience and leadership, combined with guidance from the Board of Trustees, will move CGH into a successful future.
Stacey Dimitt, MD
Chief of Staff
Dr. Dimitt is a Family Practice physician who also practices obstetrics. Her love of science eventually led her to medical school. She was drawn to Grants by the beauty of New Mexico, the welcoming people she met, and the feeling that there was a perfect niche here for her to practice her profession.
In addition to being a practicing physician, Dr. Dimitt serves as our Chief of Staff and a member of our executive team. Her leadership skills have been a phenomenal asset to our everyday operations.
The personal relationships Dr. Dimitt develops with her patients are the cornerstone of her practice. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with her patients to improve their health and well-being through education and shared decision-making.
Beyond her work, Dr. Dimitt enjoys watching her daughters’ sports activities, traveling with her family, and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
